Harry Caravan Clacton
Harry is a 2006 wheelchair-accessible caravan at Highfield Grange in Clacton. You can find out more about the facilities at Highfield Grange here.
The aim of my CIC is to provide free holidays to people with disabilities and life-limiting conditions; however, it costs £10,000 a year to run Harry so to help with these costs I will be offering some subsidised breaks. I know that some families may be able to pay for a subsidised break so wanted to give them a chance to enjoy Harry too. These “paid-for holidays” are still cheaper than most holidays in a standard caravan. I have listed prices below of all weeks but will only be offering a limited number of these as paid weeks with the rest being donated to families who need a free break. My CIC is a not-for-profit organisation so these subsidised breaks will help to maintain the caravan and provide free breaks for other families, whilst also giving you a cheaper accessible break.
All families whether taking paid or free breaks will be asked to pay a £75 deposit to cover breakages, key and pass return. This will be refunded in full within 5 working days of end of stay if no damages are found and keys and passes are returned.
Payment is taken in full at the time of booking. This can be refunded up to one week before the holiday. After this time partial refund only is possible at my discretion.

Please Note
- It is your responsibility to ensure the equipment and environment in Harry is suitable for the needs of your family.
- Harry has a ramp to the front door. Even though the caravan was designed for wheelchair access, unfortunately, there isn’t room for a wheelchair user to easily open the front door themselves and enter the caravan independently. We are hoping to increase the deck size soon to eliminate this problem, but I am not sure when this will be. At the moment someone needs to go up and open the front door before the wheelchair user goes up the ramp.
- Harry is most suitable for families of up to four people although there is space for up to 6 people.
- No smoking or use of recreational drugs in the caravan.
- No pets are permitted however service dogs are allowed, therefore, people with pet allergies need to be aware of this.
- If you have questions about whether Harry is suitable for your needs, please get in touch before you request a booking. Breaks in Harry will be offered to families who most need the facilities he offers if multiple people request the same dates.
- If you need different dates or length of stay, for example, because of respite or appointments please let me know and I will see what I can do.
